There are many different companies to choose from when it comes to cleaning carpets. To select the right carpet cleaning company, you may look at reviews and location. One important thing to consider is the different methods of carpet cleaning that companies use. Selecting the right method will depend on your carpet cleaning needs. Here are some of the different methods of cleaning carpets.

Hot Water Extraction Cleaning

Hot water extraction cleaning, or more commonly known as steam cleaning, uses high-pressure hot water to agitate the carpet fibers and dissolve any dirt. Steam carpet cleaning is a three-step process. The first step is applying a cleaning agent to the carpet. Once the cleaning agent has set for a short period of time, carpet cleaning equipment rinses the cleaning agent thoroughly. The final step is leaving the room to dry. Your carpets will not be completely dry until 4 hours later. Steam cleaning time varies depending on how many square feet you are having done. A house or office that is 3,000 square feet will take about 2 hours. In most cases, you will want to have your carpets cleaned in the late afternoon so that they can dry overnight.

Encapsulation

Foam encapsulation uses a synthetic detergent as a base that will turn into a powder when it dries. This method of cleaning carpets is a two-step process. The first step is applying the foam encapsulation detergent. As the detergent sets, it loosens up dirt particles in the carpet fibers. Once the foam has dried, the dried foam and loosened dirt particles are vacuumed or brushed away.

Foam encapsulation carpet cleaning has overtaken carpet shampooing, as encapsulation uses less water, which results in faster dry times. Encapsulation is also more eco-friendly as it does not leave behind as many chemicals after cleaning. However, although encapsulation has shown good results, it cannot clean heavily soiled carpets due to technology limitations.

Bonnet Cleaning

Bonnet carpet cleaning produces great results for surface cleaning. This carpet cleaning method mainly involves cleaning the top of the carpet fibers. The first and only step for this method of cleaning carpets is using a motorized machine with a spinning pad that has been immersed in a cleaning solution to absorb dirt from the surface of the carpets.

Bonneting is not a long-term carpet cleaning solution. Since bonneting only cleans the surface of carpets, the dirt beneath will rise to the surface in a short period. Therefore more carpet cleanings are needed to keep carpets looking fresh.

Dry Carpet Cleaning

Dry carpet cleaning is the latest carpet cleaning technology, and it has gained popularity among leading carpet manufacturers. This method of cleaning carpets is both effective and convenient. The process for dry carpet cleaning is using cleaning equipment that has a dry powder cleaning compound in it. The powder goes deep into the carpet fibers, while the cleaning equipment pulls out the dirt. There is no dry time, and all the powder used is biodegradable.
