Business-owners, especially, have to keep their floors looking good maintain the veneer of a quality establishment. Many businesses are face with the problem of their vinyl composite tile (VCT) flooring losing its luster. Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT) should be completely stripped and waxed about once a year to maintain the lustrous shine that you desire. All-Brite service technicians will thoroughly remove the old wax layers using a stripping formula. Then a new wax base will be laid, followed by several thinner layers of wax to give the floor a bright sheen.
We Inspect the area first
First thing our team will do is assess the specific details of your VCT flooring to take in its condition. This information will help the team formulate an idea of what specifically needs to be done as they proceed with the stripping and waxing. Once the inspection is completed, the All-Brite team will develop a cleaning plan, which is presented to the customer with a feasible bid before proceeding with the project.
First the floor must be cleared. The stripping formula is applied evenly with a mop and given about 15 minutes to break down the old wax. Then an abrasive scrubbing machine is used to loosen layers of the old wax, which is then cleaned up with a large squeegee and vacuum. The stripping is then repeated multiple times until all the old wax is taken off, even around the edges which can be the most difficult areas to service. If any of the old wax is left, it will discolor into a sickly-brown under the new wax coating, and look like an unsightly “scab” compared to the rest of the nice shiny floor. The only way to remedy this would be to strip and wax the floor all over again.
When waxing, first the service tech applies five layers of the urethane wax as a strong protective base on the vinyl. This also serves as a foundation for multiple layers of the smooth outer coating wax which creates the high sheen on your flooring. The thin outer coats are applied one layer at a time to keep the wax from setting in ugly random globs on your floor.
When all the waxing is complete, the team members conduct their final assessment. They will make sure the entire surface of your tile work is cleaned and shining beautifully. This assessment will be followed up by a walk-through with you to explain everything that has been done to restore your flooring. Also, our team members will gladly answer any questions you might have about your project.
Follow up waxing
The waxed floor should be serviced regularly during its yearly life span. All-Brite can establish a maintenance schedule with you for the follow-up services. The first service is a simple buff. After the area is mopped, our techs will apply a special polish with a soft-pad buffing machine. The process will pick up normal dirt leftover by walking traffic and help maintain the brilliant sheen. Eventually, when the buffing is not enough, a shallow stripping service must be applied. The top layers of wax are stripped away, the area is mopped and cleaned and then fresh layers of wax are applied. This is not a full strip and wax service.
Continue with regular mopping on your waxed floor to avoid ground in dirt. Use only low-ph cleaners because the more aggressive cleaners can wear down the upper layers of wax much faster. After detergent mopping, go over the surface with plain warm water to eliminate any leftover film.
